This is one of the premier BBQ cook-offs on the KCBS circuit. This year will be our 20th year of sanctioning of the Roots Festival’s BBQ Cook-off aka East Central KS State BBQ Championship. The competition will feature maximum of 65 teams smoking up what promises to be some of the best BBQ in the world. The festival features some of the finest music available on the BBQ circuit, as well as plenty of kid’s activities, arts, crafts and food. This contest is geared for the backyard smoker all the way to the trailer type smokers. Check-in starts at 10 a.m. on Friday with a judges meeting that night around 7 p.m. The BBQ categories are Chicken, Ribs, Pork Butt, Beef Brisket as well as Sausage.

Other great festival attractions include live music, ethnic dancers, arts & crafts, food vendors, and for our younger festival goers, great games and fun rides!

Admission Price: $15 Friday, $20 Saturday. Advance 2 Day Pass for only $25. Kids 10 and under get in free. Rain or shine! No Online Tickets. Tickets available at the gate. Purchase the 2 Day Pass beginning Aug. 1st at these local Banks: First Option Bank, Great Southern Bank and Security Bank of KC.

Bring your Lawn Chair. Coolers are allowed for food & drink, including alcohol. No glass please. Must be 21 to consume alcohol.

What’s not allowed: No weapons, No pets, No bicycles, No skateboards.
